Targeting
In my previous post, I mentioned that we had acquired a trading license. This week we managed to secure also a Tax identification number (TIN). This milestone signifies that now we can legally conduct business in Uganda and are able to pay our taxes contributing to the development of the Nation. I want to thank all those that have been concerned in the process and have helped follow up the various government departments to ensure we got to this milestone.
A note on our operations:
To date we have had collection centers in the two cities, Kampala and Jinja, the latter being the most productive collection center.
To meet our targets we have had to grow our network of collection centers. This involved looking at the country and identifying districts which we believe could be of strategic importance. So this past week, we had a field study in the district of Mubende located approximately 200km West of Kampala. The location could be strategically important to the company. It is mid-way between Fort Portal and Kampala on a major route to the DRC with a good population. The operation went well and we left the location having identified potential collectors within the district.
Now that we are not chasing permits, we would like to get some companies to supply. On the agenda for the next 2 weeks is to identify potential recycling centers. Our goal is to create working relationships with these centers with the aim of being their major suppliers.
